QUERINO CANYON, Ariz. — Funeral services for Freddie Lewis will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse in Sanders, Ariz. Elder Wise will officiate. Burial will be at Houck Community Cemetery.
Lewis died on Aug. 8, 2011, in Querino Canyon. He was born Dec. 28, 1951, in Needles, Calif., into the Black Sheep People Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.
Lewis attended Sanders High School. He was a logger in Oklahoma, Cuba, N.M., and Wheatfields, Ariz. He also did silversmithing and inlay.
Survivors include his sons Quintana Lewis, of Vanderwagen, Sonya Lewis, of Gallup; daughters Valerie Lewis, of Sanostee, and Quiana Lewis, of Sanders; brothers Mark Lewis, Teddy Lewis, and Micheal Lewis, all of Saunders, Mike Lewis Jr., of Tohatchi, and Gary Lewis; sisters Sarah Tso, of Farmington, Lillian Miller, Patricia Lee and Ilene Denet, all of Sanders; and 10 grandchildren. Lewis was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Jane Billie and Betty Lewis; father Mike Lewis Sr.; mother Edibah Yazzie and brother Jerry Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Mark Lewis, Quintana Lewis, Mike Lewis Jr., Micheal Lewis, Gary Lewis and Jeffrey Begay.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Ilene Lewis’ residence and meet at the Houck Chapter House Thursday, Aug. 18, and Friday, Aug. 19.
